Update the CLI by rerunning the same installer you used to install it. The update replaces the binary and restarts the daemon. Your credentials, workspace contexts, and local trace data are not affected.

Before you start

  • Confirm the CLI is installed. See Install atlanai CLI if you need to install it for the first time.
  • Run atlanai doctor before updating to establish a passing baseline. If the health check already fails, fix those issues first so you can tell whether the update caused any new failures.
  • For CI environments: coordinate binary updates to avoid disrupting pipelines that are mid-run. Schedule the update during a low-traffic window and confirm atlanai doctor passes in the updated environment before enabling job traffic.

Check your current version

Note the version string before updating so you can confirm the upgrade succeeded.
2

Run installer

The installer replaces the binary, restarts the daemon, and retains the previous runtime so you can roll back if needed.
If atlanai is not found after the update, open a new terminal window or run source ~/.zshrc (or your shell’s equivalent) to pick up the updated PATH.
3

Confirm update

  • Check version: Verify the version string changed from the one you noted in Step 1.
  • Run health check: Reports local paths, configured gateway URL, credential source, and daemon state. Compare the output against your pre-update baseline.
If the new version causes issues, run atlanai trace runtime rollback to restore the previous runtime.

Troubleshooting

For installer failures, post-update regression, or PATH issues, see CLI update errors.
