Discover and use a skill

Use this flow when you need a skill for a real job, not just a similar-looking name from another workspace.

Before you start

Choose the workspace where the work belongs. Personal scope is useful for your own experiments; shared scope is where a team can find and maintain the same skill. You need access to the workspace before a skill in it can appear in Browse.

Find and assess the skill

1. Open the intended workspace from the sidebar.
2. In Browse, select Skill and use Search skills to find the skill by name or description.
3. Select the skill to open its profile.
4. Start on Overview. Read what the skill does, when to use it, prerequisites, and triggers.
5. Open Source and confirm the live version, package files, and provenance.
6. Review Relationships when the skill has dependencies or nearby skills that could overlap with it.
7. Review Usage when trace-backed evidence is available and relevant to your decision.

The Security tab is currently a Coming soon preview. Continue to use your organization’s review process; it does not yet certify a skill.

Use it in a supported environment

Choose Try in chat when it is available for the current environment. Use Open in to hand the skill to a supported coding environment. The available choices depend on the app you have installed. When your environment needs a pinned package rather than an interactive handoff, retrieve that selected version through the supported CLI or API flow. Confirm the retrieved manifest matches the version you reviewed.
