Manage workspace members

Workspace owners and admins can manage membership from the workspace settings page. People must already appear in the organization directory before you can add them to a workspace.
Personal workspaces have no member list. Other people cannot be added to them.

Open the member list

  1. Open Settings from the Atlan sidebar.
  2. Under Workspaces, select the workspace.
  3. Find the Members card.

Add members

  1. Select Add a member.
  2. Search by name or email.
  3. Select one or more people.
  4. Confirm the addition.

Change a member’s role

  1. Find the member in the list.
  2. Select their current role badge.
  3. Choose Admin, Member, or Viewer.
The change takes effect immediately. Your own role and the workspace owner’s role are read-only in this list.

Remove a member

  1. Open the action menu on the member’s row.
  2. Select Remove from workspace.
Removing a workspace membership does not remove the person from the organization. It only removes their access to this workspace. Atlan blocks the removal or demotion of the workspace’s last admin. Promote another member to admin before changing the last admin’s access.

Inactive members

If an organization member is later suspended or deactivated, their workspace row remains visible with an Inactive label. They cannot be added to another workspace while inactive.

Verify the change

Search the member list again and confirm the person’s role or absence. Ask the person to refresh Atlan before checking their workspace access.
