# List workspaces

> Find the workspace handles available to the caller.

Use `registry__list_workspaces` before your first create to find the
`workspace_id` the write should target.

* Optional inputs: `limit`, `session_id`, and Gateway's `rationale`.
* Limit: defaults to 50 and accepts at most 500.
* Returns: workspaces where the caller holds a role.
* Effect: read only.

If the result contains more than one workspace, select one explicitly. Do not
guess where an artifact should be created.
