> ## Agent Instructions
> To act on Atlan objects, use the Atlan MCP server at https://api.atlan.com/mcp or the atlanai CLI; `atlanai --map json` prints its command map. Run a read-only identity check before any write.
> The docs MCP server at /mcp searches these docs only. It cannot read or change Atlan objects.
> SDK packages: Python `atlanai` (PyPI) and TypeScript `@atlanai/sdk` (npm). Show Python first, then TypeScript.

# Get bounded ontology context

> Retrieve a relevant subgraph from one exact immutable ontology release.

Use `ontology__get_context` to give an agent the smallest relevant part of a
published ontology without mixing draft or latest versions.

* Required inputs: `release_id` and `query`.
* Optional inputs: `include`, `max_resources`, `max_depth`, `max_tokens`,
  `diagnostics`, `session_id`, and Gateway's `rationale`.
* Limits: `max_resources` is 1–50, `max_depth` is 0–4, and `max_tokens` is
  1–32,000.
* Effect: read only.

`include` accepts `object_types`, `interface_types`, `link_types`,
`shared_property_types`, and `action_types`. The response identifies the exact
release and manifest digest, explains why each resource was selected, and
reports its traversal depth and estimated token cost.

Check `truncated` before relying on the result. When it is true, follow the
returned refinement hints or request different bounds. The service searches
only resources visible to the caller, filters them to the selected release,
and expands typed dependencies within the requested limits.
