# atlanai config

> Read and change telemetry and crash-report settings for this machine.

`config` controls the CLI's two local reporting settings. It does not change
trace-content capture; use `atlanai trace config` for that policy.

## Commands

### show

Shows the resolved telemetry and crash-report settings for this machine.

**Usage**

```text theme={null}
atlanai config show [flags]
```

| Option | Type | Default | Description |

| `--json` | string list | none | Select `telemetry.enabled`, `telemetry.state`, `crash_reports.enabled`, or `crash_reports.state`. |
| `--jq`, `-q` | string | none | Filter JSON output with jq. |
| `--template`, `-t` | string | none | Render JSON data with a Go template. |

### set

Changes one supported reporting setting for this machine.

**Usage**

```text theme={null}
atlanai config set <setting> <value>
```

| Argument | Values | Description |
| - | - | - |
| `<setting>` | `telemetry.enabled`, `crash_reports.enabled` | Setting stored for this machine. |
| `<value>` | `true`, `false` | Boolean value. Other values are rejected. |

`telemetry.enabled` controls anonymous CLI usage events. `crash_reports.enabled`
controls crash and unexpected-failure reporting and carries no account identity.

## Examples

```bash theme={null}
atlanai config show
atlanai config set telemetry.enabled false
atlanai config set crash_reports.enabled false
```

Machine-readable state:

```bash theme={null}
atlanai config show --json telemetry.enabled,telemetry.state
```

## Output and behavior

* `config show` prints the resolved value and why it is on or off.
* `ATLANAI_NO_TELEMETRY` and `DO_NOT_TRACK` disable telemetry even when the
  stored setting is `true`.
* A build without telemetry or crash-report configuration reports that nothing
  is sent.
