# Patch artifact metadata

> Update selected metadata fields without replacing the rest.

# `registry__patch_artifact`

Change selected metadata fields without replacing the rest.

* Inputs: required `id` and `patch`.
* Returns: the updated artifact.
* Effect: writes state. The patch follows RFC 7396; set a field to `null` to
  remove it.
