# Archive a container

> Archive a workspace, project, or repository by handle.

# `registry__archive_container`

Archive a container without erasing it.

* Inputs: required `container` and `id`.
* Returns: the container handle and archived status.
* Effect: writes state. Archived containers stay directly readable and leave
  default discovery.

Archiving a workspace cascades through its subtree. A project or repository
that still contains live artifacts must be emptied or have its artifacts moved
first.
