# Preview an ontology import

# Preview an ontology import

Use `ontology__get_import_preview` to inspect how a native JSON, RDF, or OWL
document maps into logical ontology resources before making any changes.

* Required inputs: `ontology_id`, `document`, `format`, and `serialization`.
* Optional inputs: `adapter_version`, `profile`, `base_iri`, `session_id`, and
  Gateway's `rationale`.
* Formats: `native_json`, `rdf`, or `owl`.
* Serializations: `json` or `turtle`, subject to the selected format.
* Effect: read only; no draft or release is created or changed.

The response contains deterministic proposed resources and a loss report.
`apply_supported` is false in Phase 1. Review the proposal, write approved
drafts through Registry operations, and publish them through the native
Ontology release API.

The adapter applies bounded parsing and never fetches remote imports. Treat the
input document as untrusted and inspect all reported omissions or
approximations before using the proposal.
